Which airlines and destinations fly from each airport?
Although the route map changes each season, broadly speaking:
- Bilbao Airport (BIO): the largest in northern Spain, with plenty of domestic flights, European connections and a strong low-cost presence. A good option to reach the region cheaply.
- Biarritz-Pays Basque Airport (BIQ): smaller, focused on routes with Paris and some European capitals, with marked summer seasonality.
This complementarity is exactly what generates the need for a connection: often the most convenient outbound flight departs from one airport and the return from the other.
