The San Fermín Festival — locally known as Sanfermines — is one of the most internationally famous events in Spain. Declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, it attracts more than one million visitors from around the world every year between 6 and 14 July. The legendary encierros (running of the bulls), where bulls charge through the streets of the Old Town each morning at 8:00 AM, are broadcast live to dozens of countries.
If you are flying into Bilbao Airport (BIO), the most convenient way to reach Pamplona is by private taxi. The airport is located in Loiu, about 12 km from Bilbao city centre, and approximately 160 km from Pamplona. The route via the AP-68 and AP-15 motorways is fast and straightforward.
