Prices and times by town
The Margen Izquierda is one of the most populated areas of Greater Bilbao, and it is very well connected to Bilbao Airport in Loiu via the motorway. These are the indicative fixed fares and times from each town to the terminal:
| Town | Fixed price | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Barakaldo | From €28 | ~20 min |
| Sestao | From €29 | ~21 min |
| Portugalete | From €30 | ~22 min |
| Santurtzi | From €31 | ~24 min |
The price is per vehicle (up to 4 passengers), not per person. For a family or a group, splitting the amount gives a very competitive per-head cost, well below other alternatives.

What time should I leave for my flight?
As the journeys from the Left Bank are short (20-24 min), the margin is set by check-in. As a reference:
- 25-30 min of travel (with a margin for traffic).
- +2 hours for check-in and security (more for international flights).
- That is, leave about 2h30 before your flight departs.
For early flights (the 6-7am Ryanair ones), book the night before and we pick you up on time. There is more detail in our Bilbao Airport guide.
Return: from the airport to the Left Bank
The service works the same way in reverse. On landing, the driver waits for you in arrivals and takes you straight to Barakaldo, Sestao, Portugalete or Santurtzi, with the same fixed price and no night surcharge.
Taxi vs the Bizkaibus A3247
The Bizkaibus A3247 connects Bilbao with the airport, but from the Left Bank you would first have to reach central Bilbao to take it, with transfers and waits. The door-to-door taxi saves you all that: it picks you up at home and drops you at the terminal, with no changes and no waiting for connections.
Trade fairs and conferences at the BEC in Barakaldo
The Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC), in Barakaldo, hosts some of the largest trade fairs and conferences in northern Spain. Thousands of professional visitors arrive at Bilbao Airport and need a reliable transfer to the area, often with work luggage or exhibitor material. The fixed-price taxi from €28 is the most practical option to arrive on time at a stand or a meeting, with the possibility of a company invoice. For groups, we have a van of up to 7 seats.
What to visit on the Left Bank
If you arrive as a visitor, the Left Bank has top attractions very close to the airport:
- Bizkaia Bridge (Hanging Bridge) in Portugalete-Getxo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Santurtzi fishing port and its famous sardines.
- Historic centre of Portugalete, one of the best preserved in Biscay.
- BEC and the Barakaldo shopping area.
The taxi takes you from the airport straight to any of these points, with no hassle.
